After a bit of a wait the Roseate Tern put in an appearance showing of a nice pink flush to its underparts. 14 Little Terns and a cracking male Ruff made for a nice end to the day. #SuffolkBirds

1/2. Well that was tad frustrating! Having recently seen the @landguardbo.bsky.social Tawny Pipit, today I found my own (presumably the LBO bird?) st Shingle Street. Bird initially flushed and landed some 30mts in front of me, watched it through bins for a few seconds before it... #SuffolkBirding

Just returned from a much needed break to the Shetland Isles (my 14th visit) with @scottmayson.bsky.social and @wallcreeper1.bsky.social For me, my birding highlight of the trip was watching my 3rd Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler down to 20ft with 7 other birders whilst on Unst.

Despite the murk and gloom of this morning, the walk from Boyton Marshes to Hollesley Marshes with @scottmayson.bsky.social produced 315 Russian White-fronted Geese, single Pale-bellied Brent Goose, Merlin and Cattle Egret amongst the regulars. #SuffolkBirding

After several failed attempts, I finally connected with Black-throated Diver this morning that's been present on the Orwell Estuary for several weeks. The bird was viewable from Clamphouse Marsh, Chelmodiston #SuffolkBirding

Wildfowl numbers woefully low at Alton Water (18 Tufties, 5 Pochard, 8 Gadwall & 3 Mallard). On the plus side, large finch flock in setaside field opposite Tattingstone Place, which contains c40 Brambling.

Eastern Stonechat...DNA results back from the Stonechat that was found at Trimley Marshes early Nov, confirmed it to be Siberian Stonechat rather than Amur Stonechat that we all led to be believed it to be! #UKBirding #SuffolkBiridng

Well, that's 2024 almost done with! My only new birds were book-ended by NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH in Essex and YELLOW WARBLER in Kent. Shetland was as good as ever, with EASTERN CROWNED WARBLER and PECHORA PIPIT being the pick of the bunch. The Norfolk DESERT WARBLER was good value too. Suffolk Year 211

Patient was required this morning for the Yellow Warbler, but the bird didn't disappoint and gave good views for those who remained on site. #UKBirding

A rare trip to Lincolnshire in an attempt to see the Black-faced Bunting that had been rung nearby & released at Donna Nook y'day. On site for 9hrs from 7am, and during this time, 'others' and myself heard the bird call 5x around the car park at 9.15am, unfortunately, the bird wasn't 'seen' all day
