Something I’ve noticed is there seems to be a sort of pervasive assumption that the status quo has gravity. That there’s a natural, comfortable way things should be and that deviations from the normal state of the world will correct themselves in time. But as a paleontologist, I know this is false.

“Sludge.” I knew there was a name for the phone trees & denied claims. Industries aren’t industries anymore. They’re false fronts, blocking people from getting what they’re paying for while extracting $$ for shareholders. & we’re not customers. We’re marks.

Take a listen and seriously consider it. While this is not an uncommon practice, I am glad people are beginning to speak up about it.
