I found this partially disassembled Lego Monster Fighters Haunted House at a thrift store for $30. It has the vampire and Frankenstein minifigures but unfortunately not the ghosts or others, and I'll see if anything else major is missing as I put it back together.

Gate II - 1990, directed by Tibor Takács- there are a lot of good moments in this but it bogs down occasionally as well

DnD with the kiddos was a blast today. Wrestled with a cursed giant squid. We are using the Little But Fierce adaptation of 5e.

More DND Appendix N (actually 'Appendix E' in fifth edition) reading: Split Infinity by Piers Anthony. In the future, most everyone is naked all the time because they live in climate controlled dome habitats (and are under age 30)- it's mostly fun so I'll continue on with the rest of the series

Found Stephen King's Desperation for $1 in a little beach town library on vacation a few weeks ago- read it and then 'The Regulators' immediately after. Laughed out loud at this line: "it matters not how much you jump and dance; the last two drops go in your pants". It gets real dark after that.

Once a week, I visit thrift stores and see if there are any lots of LEGO. Today I scored all of this for about $12! It helps with MOC projects and building my LEGO inventory at low cost. My favorite is when I find vintage pieces and sets! I’ve gotten really good at sorting quickly.😆

Thrift store Lego Millennium Falcon 75257 found for $15 - it's missing some pieces, has no minifigures except for the tiny wheel droid, and no cockpit pieces (6279752 & 6276081 especially). I should be able to dig up the more generic pieces easily enough, and have a Han Solo & Chewbacca.

Appendix N reading list: 'The High Crusade' by Poul Anderson- this was fun, and quick (more of a novella really). I haven't read 'The Broken Sword' or 'Three Hearts and Three Lions' yet but will definitely get them if spotted in the wild.

Very useful parts, especially the 2/3 high bricks. The rock and masonry pieces are great for a D&D concept I've been cooking up 😅

Finding broken pieces used to make me a little sad, but now I think there's an opportunity with them, maybe something in a scene ought to be broken, it's a trap and the ground opens up- and the break is a clue the (lego dnd) players can detect. Lime green is harder, brittle browns make more sense.

"...you can't be surprised, except when incapacitated by something other than nonmagical sleep" - what? The next sentence "The weapon magically awakens you and your companions within range if any of you are sleeping naturally when combat begins." helps clarify, fortunately. (from the DND 5E DMG)

Just today finally played Machi Koro (I won, so it must be a good game right?), have played Ticket to Ride France + Old West several times over the last 5 months, but haven't touched the Exit game yet.

PAB wall haul - many profile bricks with clear tiles to fill in the gaps, and several 'LEGO Door Frame 1 x 6 x 7 with Arch (40066)'. I may have more of the 'masonry profile' 2x1s (in browns, dark gray, & white) now than regular 2x1s.

The party entered the Temple of Dumathoin in Wave Echo Cave and noticed some spider webs, then set one on fire. A bunch of giant spiders dropped from the ceiling and attacked.

I've collected a lot of the original run Choose Your Own Adventures, but the recent (last 10-20 years) reprints had such terrible artwork I thought the brand was ruined forever. 'Sister from the Multiverse' one is good though (artwork by Gabhor Utomo), maybe it helps that it is an original story?

Q: The Winged Serpent (1982) - There are some good goofy 'Jaws for Manhattan rooftops' moments in here but I wish they had the budget to put the monster on screen more, and that the cult of Quetzalcoatl worshipers (or was there just one guy?) was more fleshed out.

Deadfall (1993) starring Michael Biehn and directed by Christopher Coppola, it ranges from adequate to lifeless, except for the Nicolas Cage scenes which are fantastic.

I'm about 50 hours into Morrowind (unmodded gog version)- lots of walking around which is fine while listening to podcasts, and I like to fill in the unexplored areas of the map. I've neglected the main quest but now using guides to get back into it. Haven't played any Elder Scrolls before this.

Deep Rising 1998 (streaming on Peacock currently)- surprisingly solid despite some bad creature CGI and dodgy bluescreening, makes up for it elsewhere with practical effects & stunts, charisma.

After dealing with Stirges the party enters another room in Wave Echo Cave covered in the remains of fallen warriors, humans, dwarves & orcs- but once disturbed the bones begin to pull together, stand, pick up their weapons, and advance.
