Producing techno, hard to swallow pill: it's not 2003 anymore, 8 minute long tracks are rarely justified. If you can drop 2 full minutes from the track, and it still sounds good and whole, then drop it.

2015 July 5th I uploaded my first EP to Bandcamp. Then I posted about it in some retrowave groups. And went partying. Next morning I woke up to emails about people purchasing it. Just a handful, but for the first time in my life people were actually paying money for my music. 😱

#synthwave #rant I'm all against AI generated crap, but it baffles me how we immediately hate on starting out bedroom producers for making an album cover art with AI, and then a band like Gunship gets praised for literally stealing 80s action movie scenes and calling it a music video.

Trivia: so the visualizer for "The Ride Of Your Life" was not made in an editor. I programmed the whole thing in javascript, in an arbitrary parallax game engine I threw together just for this 🤷‍♂️ Then processed a screen recording in Sony Vegas for the pixelated low-bit color VHS look.
