Avian flu has been detected at multiple sites across Redditch & the Villages. I’m in contact with DEFRA and monitoring the situation closely and I welcome Redditch Borough Council’s ongoing monitoring and advice to residents. If you see a sick, injured or dead bird, do not touch or handle it.

I welcome new Government action to crack down on illegal “ghost” number plates - a big step forward in tackling serious and organised crime. Ghost plates have no legitimate purpose.

📮 I’ve written to Ofcom calling for urgent action over unacceptable Royal Mail failures affecting residents in Inkberrow. Over 200 people have contacted me after going weeks without a single letter, with vital post, including NHS appointment letters, arriving after the appointment date.

Proud to welcome the Minister for the Armed Forces, Al Carns MP, to Redditch for a visit to 37 Signal Regiment. We met soldiers, officers and civilian staff who play a vital role in Defence operations and discussed key issues including training, equipment and modernisation.

It was a real pleasure to visit Church Hill Middle School to meet Principal Laura Jarvis, staff and the brilliant School Council and Head Pupils. Their thoughtful questions about Parliament, local issues and how young people can make their voices heard were inspiring.

As we clear away Christmas packaging, it’s a good moment to think about where it all ends up. That’s why I recently chaired the launch of a new cross-party Parliamentary Group on Packaging and the Circular Economy.

This Christmas, the Government is helping up to 35,000 Armed Forces personnel get home to be with their loved ones. Around 30,000 junior service members and 5,000 separated parents will receive funded travel support, reaching those who previously missed out.

If you or someone you know is struggling over the festive season, help is available. The Redditch Directory brings together a range of local services covering crime, community concerns, benefits, cost-of-living support, housing, utilities, food insecurity and health.

Great to visit the Redditch Royal Mail Delivery Office on Fishing Line Road to thank our local posties and delivery staff for their incredible work during the Christmas rush 🎄📮 I saw first-hand the scale of operations as thousands of letters and parcels are prepared for delivery across Redditch.

A real pleasure to visit Woodfield Academy to present Maggie with her prize as the winner of my 2025 Christmas Card Competition 🎄 Her beautiful design, featuring Forge Mill Needle Museum and Bordesley Abbey, has been my official Christmas card this year and has been sent across Redditch.

It was a real pleasure to visit Moons Moat First School during their festive celebrations 🎄 I met brilliant pupils, staff and the School Council, who asked thoughtful questions about Parliament, democracy and my role as their MP.

Joined local officers in the Kingfisher to see first-hand how the “Winter of Action” is targeting prolific shoplifters and protecting shoppers and retail workers. Staff in the Kingfisher face unacceptable levels of abuse and repeat offending.

Joined Redditch’s neighbourhood police on a “Winter of Action” patrol in the town centre to see the work under way to tackle shop theft, street crime and anti-social behaviour. Officers are focusing on hotspots and supporting retail staff during the busy festive period.

Met with Chief Fire Officer Jonathon Pryce KFSM to discuss how we strengthen fire and rescue services across Redditch and the Villages - from recruitment and retention to community fire safety and closer joint working with local police.

Proud to support the Redditch Mission Area Toy Appeal at the Kingfisher Centre. The generosity of local people has been incredible but there’s still time to donate. The team, led by Elaine, are working hard to make sure no child in Redditch wakes up without a present this Christmas.

Thank you to everyone who joined my Central Ward Coffee Morning at the REDI Centre. It was a valuable chance to hear directly from over 30 residents about the issues affecting daily life - from HMOs and dangerous driving to parking pressures, anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping.

Huge thank you to the hundreds of schoolchildren across Redditch and the Villages who entered my Christmas card competition this year - the creativity was fantastic. Congratulations to Maggie from Woodfield Academy, whose design will appear on the front of my Christmas card.

Quick update on the proposed 51-person HMO at the former Hotel Rafiya site in Winyates Green. I’ve been clear from the start: this development is completely unsuitable for our area.

Final hours to support Maggs Day Centre’s Big Give Christmas Challenge! Until 12pm today, every donation is doubled, helping provide hot meals, warmth and vital one-to-one support for people experiencing homelessness across Worcestershire.

Last Friday was International Volunteer Day. I want to thank the incredible volunteers who keep grassroots football thriving, especially the brilliant team at Sporting Club Inkberrow FC. I’m proud of the clubs across Redditch and the Villages and the people who make them possible.

Great to join the Tesco Winter Food Collection at Tesco Extra, supporting Redditch Foodbank as shoppers donated food and essentials for families facing hardship this winter. Every tin, packet and donation makes a real difference.

Great to help launch Woodfield Academy’s new Woodfield Parliament during UK Parliament Week. It was inspiring to meet their first pupil MPs, hear their ideas and answer thoughtful questions about how decisions are made locally and nationally.

Small Business Saturday is a chance to celebrate the incredible independents that keep Redditch thriving, from The Redditch Craft Bakery to Rusty’s Collectables on Church Green. With nearly 4,000 local businesses, every purchase supports local jobs, families and our high streets.

Great to visit St Thomas More Catholic First School for UK Parliament Week and spend time with their fantastic Year 4 “Future Leaders”. Their thoughtful, ambitious questions about democracy and our community show how much young people care about their future.

Delighted to welcome the Government’s plan for Best Start Family Hubs, with every hub set to have a dedicated SEND practitioner from April 2026. Early, expert support can transform children’s life chances and builds on the fantastic work already happening in Redditch and Worcestershire.

Great to visit Acts of Kindness to support this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal. It was inspiring to meet volunteers and see the gift-wrapping sessions helping ensure children from families under real pressure wake up to a present on Christmas morning.

I met senior NHS leaders in Parliament to discuss winter readiness and children’s care in Worcestershire. With extra investment in urgent and same-day emergency care and new walk-in flu jab options, it’s vital families can access the right support at the right time.

It was great to visit VIP Day Centre in Winyates as they mark 10 years of delivering award-winning dementia care. Natalie and her team provide person-centred support that reduces isolation, builds confidence and helps people stay at home longer - all at a fraction of the cost of traditional care.

It’s been fantastic to see so many schools, youth groups, community organisations and even a local care home, join in UK Parliament Week 2025 across Redditch and the Villages. Over 18 local groups got involved, sharing inspiring questions about Parliament and democracy.

Productive meeting in Parliament with senior JLR representatives to discuss recovery from the recent cyber incident and the impact on suppliers across the West Midlands. It’s positive that operations are fully restored but smaller firms in the supply chain still need access to support and funding.

Met with Education Committee Chair @helenhayes.bsky.social to raise the concerns I’m hearing from parents and schools about a SEND system at breaking point. Families are facing long waits, transport issues and stressful tribunals.

Great to visit The Old Needleworks Foundation to see their brilliant partnership with FareShare UK in action. Every week, surplus food from supermarkets is transformed into nutritious meals for families across Redditch - ensuring good food never goes to waste.

I met with @parkinsons.org.uk, calling for welfare reforms and NHS plans that reflect the realities of this complex, fluctuating condition. As the son and relative of people affected, I know how vital it is that no one is left behind.
