Stressful trip to the vet with this guy and his brother for check ups and shots. He has to be doped up with gabapentin beforehand and is still coming down. Best moment? Forgot to bring a stool sample but he produced one on the floor, followed by throwing up.

I witnessed a lifelong dream come true today for two of the cats as a young squirrel scurried around the window screen right in front of them. HE WAS RIGHT THERE! Feel bad the other two missed out, they were sleeping in a different room.

Made this absolutely massive dutch baby and ate the whole thing myself, except the burnt edges. New recipe verdict: Delicious!

Came home to a live mouse in the house. With four cats, you'd think one of them would have managed to kill it. I'm not blaming Renly because he's got no teeth, but you other three, really?

Just used a rice cooker for the first time. Wow, that's some nice rice. Think I'm going down a rice cooker recipe rabbit hole now.

Random jr high memory: we were sewing in home ec and I asked the teacher a ❓ about one of the steps. She scolded me for asking her, told me to ask someone working next to me. So I asked the kid next to me, they told me the wrong thing and then I got scolded again for doing it wrong. Good times.

Congratulations to Renly, his infection is gone and he has rejoined the naked club! No more suits! Now he just has to regrow that belly fur.

My million dollar idea: prescription kibble for humans. Meal planning is hard enough under normal conditions, but add in dietary restrictions for two different conditions and it has become overwhelming difficult. I'd love to just serve a scoop of kibble and call it a day.

Emergency vet with Smol Paul (again). He's not in immediate danger but there's something neurological causing problems with his legs. He needs an MRI, which will cost around £4.5k. If you'd been meaning to donate, this would be an excellent time 😭 Will share pics of Paul's brain if it helps!

Renly update: he saw the vet yesterday, she said it is definitely a skin infection. He has some ointment to put on twice a day and has to keep wearing his suits so he doesn't lick it. She said it would take a couple weeks to clear up, but it already looks so much better. Less red, not stinky.

Well, another setback with Renly's recovery. I think he has a yeast infection on his belly. Those darn belly folds! They can't see him until Wednesday. Poor guy, it's just one thing after another.

Renly has upgraded his apparel from jammies to a real surgery suit. Stylish and also functional.

Setback with Renly's recovery, incision is a little infected so he's starting antibiotics today. So hard to get the area to air out when it's buried in his tummy folds! Guess we'll give "never think about it again" another shot in 7 days.

My husband finally took the first step in taking care of some medical stuff. More proof that nagging works.

Got a new pair of shoes. Avy wishes my feet were bigger.

Hooray! Renly's lump has been officially proclaimed nothing to worry about! Just a ball of fat and cartilage. He gets his stitches out on Friday and then once his belly fur grows back, we can move on to the "never think about it again" phase.

Home from surgery! I haven't gotten a look at his belly yet, but I guess they shaved more than usual to get a look at a bruise on his belly so it should be quite a sight. Happy to be home, but still a little doped up.

Dropped Renly off at the vet today for a sleepover before his surgery tomorrow. The man has no chill when it comes to fasting, hence the sleepover. The tech said she'd put him in a double kennel because of his bulk. Ouch!

Update on the lump in Renly's belly. The vet said it is probably benign but her recommendation was to take it out because it is inflamed and angry and she couldn't get a good sample to test. So I'll be scheduling that for next month. And I'm very happy with this picture of him.

Poor poor Finnick has to use a cement block for a pillow. (Don't worry, he has plenty of comfortable places to sleep in the house, we were just hanging out in the backyard.)

Avy isn't as brave about going out to play in the backyard as the rest of the gang, but since it was a holiday Monday, she ventured out to roll around in the sunshine.
