NSF GRFP results are out, I didn’t expect them to actually get processed—so I was decently pleased at getting honorable mention. Better than what I got the first time I applied. And congrats to everyone who did get it! Still, only 1000 were awarded. Shows how rough the funding situation is.

My PhD will not be in internet communications but if it was, I’d have a whole chapter on what people making memes about big news events signifies about humor, community, helplessness vs hope, etc.
