We're thrilled to share a milestone for breast cancer care in Papua New Guinea💞 The first breast cancer program participant has now been approved under our collaboration with Port Moresby General Hospital.

Thanks to our strong partnership with local physicians, women experiencing advanced breast cancer in Nepal can now access their treatment through a new program at B.P. Koirala Memorial Hospital. This expansion is meaningful as these patients were previously bearing the full cost of treatment.

💡Access to medicine is not a privilege—it’s a human right! For people with conditions such as cancer, access to treatment is about survival. Yet behind every box of medicine is a journey that shouldn’t be this difficult and too often, patients are the ones who feel the impact when delays happen.

At age 18, Archana was preparing for her final college exams when a sudden fever changed everything. What was first dismissed as stress soon revealed a diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Her worry switched from a college exam and losing a year to now a bigger test: the test of survival.

Five years ago, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vhinz’s world turned upside down. He was 34 when unexplained fatigue, night sweats, and sudden weight loss led to a diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). With lockdowns in place, accessing care was difficult.

Without proper tools, patients may never know they have cancer until it’s too late. In Fiji, breast cancer patients have long faced challenges due to shortages in essential diagnostic tools, like biopsy needles. As a result, reuse of needles and poor tissue yields makes accurate diagnosis difficult.

“I didn’t think I could complete high school because of our family's economics situation. My father’s cancer treatment, school expenses for me and my younger sister, and daily survival meant we didn't have money to pay for everything,” Sreypov recalls.

Prabhat Pradhan is a surgical oncologist in Bhutan who specializes in breast cancer. Dr. Pradhan shares that "we are seeing an increasing number of breast cancer cases each year, particularly among younger women."
