Kaine mostly follows the in-game fighting style, but also uses bits from Boxing, Kyokushin Karate, Capoeira, and Pro Wrestling (I shit you not on the last one lmao).

I’d say Kaine is… reasonably buff. Which can be quite a bit for a midlander. All that training and adventuring paid off and then some, and he takes steps to remain in good shape for future endeavors… also because it’s kinda fun and helps him relax sometimes.

I think Kaine shares the most similarities with Cecil, Zack, and Cloud. Like Cecil, his story involves the light and darkness within him. Like Zack, he's a dorkishly cool hero who matures while staying dorky. Like Cloud, he has to go on a journey of self-forgiveness to find peace.

Kaine loves his share of groan worthy puns. It makes everyone... well, groan, but he loves the corniness AND the reactions. It's one of his simple joys in life.

I’m hopeful enough that Master Matoya knows how well Kaine can keep pace with Shtola, keep her from being too reckless, and sometimes challenge her. Think that can earn Matoya’s seal of approval, though knowing Kaine, he’ll probs still formally ask the old scholar for that same approval.

Starbird! Kaine noticed the little bird fluttering about in Mor Dhona at the end of EW (exactly like the CS). I believe in the theory that it's actually Meteion, and Kaine resolved to show her the world, both so she can see all its imperfect beauty, and to honor the memory of her creator, Hermes.

Kaine treats the Scions like family. It’s a relationship that’s evolved, they’ve grown closer over time while also overcoming many trials together. As for his favorite Scion, well… he loves them all, but he has one he loves the most.

Kaine carries the memories of the ones he’s lost in his life. Understanding that love and grief are two sides of the same coin, he lets himself feel the weight of losing loved ones, but still take joy in knowing they were part of his life. By letting himself feel both, he finds peace and moves on.

For the most part, Kaine can follow orders just fine. But give him a good reason to defy an order, and he will without a second thought. He fights for the good of everyone, and if he has to defy an order to do so, then he will.

Kaine is taken from the Garlic word Cathan meaning warrior. Tyrell was derived from Tyr, the Norse God of War and basically one of the more noble and valiant Æsir. And that’s how I got Kaine Tyrell.

Kaine started his adventurer career at nineteen, so he was making ends meet for himself through various adventures and providing for his ma and pa for six years before the events of ARR would change his life.

Fave thing about Kaine is definitely how peaceful his overall vibe, even after everything he’s been through. So… his smile.

I'll put it this way: Haurchefant was to Kaine, what Zack was to Cloud.

Outside of adventuring, Kaine earns his keep by: - Selling items from various dungeons - Lending his aid to expeditions - Touring with Troupe Falsiam - Teaching for the PGL and GLD guilds - Helping the Allied Societies - Taking on odd jobs every now and then And a few other methods...

Fray is what I like to call "Kaine's very long therapy session" Taking up the ways of DRK and spending time with Fray is what allowed Kaine to find balance, forgiveness, and peace within himself. And hey, being a Paladin and Dark Knight makes him a certified yin-yang bomb, which is a neat bonus.

The first time Kaine woke up with Shtola after spending a night together. After a long period of what felt like eternal unrequited love, the fact that she actually reciprocated, and quite clearly, still blows his mind. Seeing her asleep next to him so peacefully is a memory he'll cherish forever.

Heroism, self-forgiveness, upholding legacy, finding beauty and meaning in life, and human willpower are some of the themes I like to cover with Kaine. The heroism one I want to expand on a bit: - Heroism as a responsibility (ARR), a form of atonement (HW to ShB), and as a choice (EW onwards).

Kaine is the worst liar among the Scions, as a matter of fact, he used to have the not-so-amazing title of "Worst Liar" The only reason he eventually lost it was because Estinien joined the group.

Kaine fights mostly with the in-game jobs, but he’s learned to blend them together seamlessly after lots of training. He’s also currently developing his own unique job named Dawnstrider, which uses VPR, PLD, and DRK as the main foundations while also taking bits and pieces from his other jobs.

Kaine is a Leo. I gave him my birthday (August 12) since I didn’t put much stock into his background when I started out LOL But that aside, the Leo zodiac sign is also quite fitting, if archetypal, for someone like Kaine who’s very unironic about the hero gig, so it all worked out.
