Tough result, but can’t fault the spirit of this team in the face of adversity: a selfishly absent striker and a diabolical refereeing performance. Liverpool unspectacular and their aggression unpunished. Injuries/suspension concerning, but some encouraging home debuts.

Can’t complain with a league point at Villa Park. Very strong, assertive first half had Villa rattled. But after Konsa’s red we were wasteful in the final third and made some poor decisions. Missed a striker, but still lots of positives to take. Big Dan Burn superb today.

A day of mixed emotions: not the result we wanted, but top 5 secured and that’s all that matters! A League Cup victory, 5th place in the Premier League and guaranteed Champions League football in 2025/26. An incredible season and transformative summer ahead. HWTL! 🖤🤍

After the Chelsea win I boldly/foolishly speculated that 1 more point would be enough to secure Champions League football. Little did I know that ZERO points was actually enough. A crazy end to one of the best seasons in my lifetime. Very excited about what comes next…

Beaten by a poorer side. We were blunt in attack - expected from Wilson (to the point of being a hindrance) but more poor decision-making in final third by Barnes & Gordon. Arsenal there for the taking and we didn’t do much wrong defensively. Sets up a huge final game.

A gargantuan win in the sunshine, a dogged Newcastle get the better of 10-man Chelsea. Cracking 1st half which set the tone (red card justified) but a nervy/leggy 2nd half challenged us. Massive goals from Tonali and Bruno take us into 3rd with 2 games left. HWTL!! 🖤🤍

A frustrating performance but a massive point in the race for Champions League football. Teams below us 3 points behind and with inferior goal differences. Could do with results going our way next few weeks, but still in our hands if we beat Chelsea and Everton at home.

Buzzing to have Eddie Howe back in the dugout. His presence is going to be vital for our final run-in. Some interesting stats v Ipswich: • 47 crosses into the box attempted • 78% possession - a new Premier League high for 24/25 • 19 PL wins now, 2nd only to Liverpool

A comfortable win in the sunshine. Ipswich aggression difficult for us 1st half but they struggled with our crosses in the box. We did everything but score until Isak’s penalty. A very controlled 2nd half & 2 good goals from crosses won it. Ref was v poor. Up to 3rd! 🖤🤍

A very disappointing 2nd half performance after an evenly balanced 1st. Watkins kept exposing us, Villa have been good value for the win. We’ve looked leggy and shellshocked, couldn’t get a foothold. A sobering reminder that CL football not yet secure, but we can rectify with win v Ipswich.

The team’s really hit a new level. A 2nd notable winning streak at the business end of the season for cup final and CL chase. We’re beating big teams, but also managing to see off the poor and middling teams with conviction, and without heavily relying on Isak’s goals either. 🖤🤍

Massive 3 points to send us up to 3rd! Despite favours from the officials, Palace capitulated before half time and we showed again how clinical we are. Another MotM display from Tonali who continues to be untouchable. He is the king 👑 St James’ Park is his castle 🏰

We paid the same fee for Sandro Tonali as Man Utd paid for Mason Mount. Chalk and cheese. Tonali has been transformative for us and despite how strong his form is right now, there’s still so much more to come from him. Midfield maestro 🇮🇹

Massive win in the chase for Champions League, and always a delight beating Man Utd. Barnes’ brace was impressive, and an outstanding Sandro Tonali drove the team’s performance today. 9/9 points since cup final, we really are the team to beat now while rivals stutter. 🖤🤍

A tough game under the lights but all we needed was a functional win to set the tone. A devastating attacking move before HT and a stunning world-class strike from Tonali enough to see off a well-drilled Brentford. Tino man of the match for me. Big 3 points after an emotional few weeks. 🖤🤍

The timing of our goals yesterday was crucial in shaping the game: Burn’s header before HT rubber stamped our 1st half dominance and changed Slot’s HT teamtalk. Liverpool looked sharper after HT, but didn’t take the opportunity to assert control. Isak scores soon after and it crushed them.

Huge win in the capital. Massive 3 points that will help recently shaken confidence. Neither side at their best, but we def edged it. A huge boost of confidence to win, and keep a clean sheet, without Hall and Gordon down the left. Ahead of the final next weekend, we really needed this.

The news about Gordon missing the final was devastating but Lewis Hall out for the season is worse. With Botman still out, Kelly sold, Alex Murphy on loan, Tripps struggling to complete a 90, we’re now heavily reliant on Targett and Krafth to help us win a final or nab 5th place in the PL.

Another chaotic game at St James’ but a win in a 6-pointer keeps our hopes for a top 5 finish alive. 4 goals in 11 1st half minutes was enough, but complacency set in and we lost control to a Forest side as hungry as we were in the 1st half. Lewis Hall a standout. Crazy game, important win.

Can’t begin to fathom why Osula got a yellow card there? Got fouled and got pushed from the side. Bizarre. Also can’t fathom how chaotic that second half was. They’ve dragged us down to their level, we need to see a difference in class and fitness in the 2nd half.

Jacob Murphy speaking honestly and humbly about his recent form. Really easy to see why his personality his so popular with the rest of the squad. Eddie Howe on Murphy post-match: “Very dedicated, very disciplined, and it’s great to see good people do well”

Not only is 2 x 2-0 wins pretty nice symmetry, we also scored in each of the four halves in the tie. Genuinely shocked Arsenal didn’t score at all in over 180 minutes against us. We reduced them to only 6 shots on target across both legs. Massive defensive effort. 🖤🤍

Arteta tears always taste the sweetest. Once again, tactically undone by Eddie Howe at St James’ Park with their best starting XI. We were just too good for them tonight and we emphatically deserve our place in the final.

Newcastle 2-0 Arsenal (4-0) A second League Cup Final in 3 seasons. New formation, better mentality, raucous atmosphere. We controlled the night and blew them away. Trippier, Tonali, Gordon & Burn excellent. Whole team stepped up. MIKEL ARTETA IT MUST BE THE BALL!

Whatever you think of Miggy/Kelly, both are experienced squad players offering depth. I’m not against selling them but not replacing either jeopardises our chances of finishing in the top 5. No gamechangers off the bench & squad is now significantly weaker since we sold Anderson/Minteh.
