When you can’t decide which color to pick. Note: I could not get really close to it as that is a private driveway, but it did not look like a wrap.

Here's a really cool video showing a 1959 Citroen 2CV being restarted for the first time in 30 years. While this is from a French channel, this video has no talking, just the sounds of experts doing their jobs...

I’m building three 1:8 rail cars. The first one will be a brake van, so this thread is about building the brake components. First part is a ring with a tapered ID that will get cut in segments to become the brake pads. It doesn’t quite fit on a wheel because it got too thin to hold in the lathe!

I am thinking of using a BLDC motor out of a cordless drill to power a gauge 1 locomotive. I got a cheap motor controller from eBay to run it. See alt for a review… It works but it’s definitely a case of you get what you paid for!

The white SUV on the right of this picture is a Hyundai Nexo hydrogen car, running under its own power. Well, technically, when I took the photo, it was stuck in traffic, so not moving.

I am not sure what’s most impressive: 1. It took me less than an hour to install the lights in this Kato train with no prior experience. 2. How nice they look and work 3. How well the tiny camera sensor on my entry level phone can film in almost complete darkness.

What’s the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I once burned my eye brows while lighting a miniature live steam tractor. It failed to light, so I had a look down just as I clicked the lighter one more time and all the accumulated butane gas turned into a fireball right into my face…

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in
#Pittsburgh
, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

I like how some Japanese model railroaders with very limited space represent mainline trains by cutting them down to single truck length. I think it would be fun to experiment with the same concept but based on North American prototypes...
