So I played Splatoon 3 again for the first time in nearly a year thanks to the 11.0 patch. Somehow failed upwards into S+ rank 3-1 despite playing 3 of my worst games in recent memory lol. Apologies for my own rusty old ass if you match with me this season. I'm doing my best to improve 😅

Lately I've been trying to teach myself Japanese. It's been rough going through the genki books all on their own. Sometimes I wonder why dedicated books for English speakers learning foreign languages are so bad at explaining the very concepts they're designed to explain...

This country is in a very dark place right now. The mere thought that it could yet get worse is sickening. It's unbelievable. And yet, it feels all too inevitable.

Maybe I'm just an old man now, but the more I play Legends Z-A, the more annoyed I am at side quests (and a certain main quest in the dlc) that absolutely do not respect my time. I'm happy to invest hours into a game, but I hate wasting them on things I don't consider fun just to finish the quests.

It really does seem like we're speedrunning our own destruction these days.

One of my Christmas pickups: a sealed copy of the maxis collection vol 2! Not particularly rare or anything but I've been itching to play some sim city and sim farm, plus I've never played sim Earth before. Mac/Win compatible - trying on my G4 iMac since I don't have a win95 PC in my collection yet.

All I want for Christmas is for Windows to STOP re-enabling my disabled audio devices. I disabled them for a reason, I don't care if there was an nvidia driver update, that doesn't mean I want my monitor's non-existent speakers to become my default audio experience...

So, apparently Arby's just did a double shrinkflation on us...went to get some mozzarella sticks and not only were they 40 cents more expensive than last time (bringing them to over $1 per stick), but they shrunk them by at least 25% so they're shorter than the holder now. This is ridiculous!

New gaming station is coming along well. For too long all of my games have been scattered throughout several closets and smaller bookcases. Now they all fit in one space, and there's plenty of room for more! (Rest of the room's a mess, but full setup to come soon - hopefully this weekend)

For what it's worth I enjoyed swsh and sv, but they fell short of that wow factor for me. In fact, if I'm being completely honest with myself I think the last time I felt good about a main series release (not counting Legends Arceus) was probably all the way back to Black and White

Last week I finally got to see my favorite band in concert. I thought I had missed my opportunity when Chester died just weeks from the show I had tickets for back in 2017. I wasn't going to pass up this opportunity - I rarely say this about concerts these days but it was worth every penny!

I know I complain about the weather every year and I really should just move somewhere colder, but I'm seeing triple digits on the dash more in the last month than I have in the past 2 years combined...
