Overall, we recorded an incredible 217 animals and 197 plants including: 3 reptile species 7 mammal species 139 insect species 40 bird species 8 Gastropoda species (snails and slugs) 19 arachnid (spider) species 1 amphibian species A 57.2% increase in fauna species since 2022.

A year has passed since #SpeciesCounts2024 This weekend 25 volunteers are gathering to record species on all 8 VLM plots + a baseline survey on plot 8 the latest buyout 🔎 We are excited to see what species have returned to make these sites their home 🦋🦡🦔 #WatchThisSpace 👀

So happy to know another Plot is back to nature. A safe haven for those whose home this has always been and now is again. In my mind I am making little signs to show the residents the way to plot 2 so they can hop over. I am in Heaven knowing this tyvm ☮️💟🐾🌱

The VLM is very excited about this plot because it has been confirmed by local badger sabs who visited the site this week, that there are large badger setts nearby! To have another safe area for the protection of these badgers from the yearly cull would be wonderful 🦡
