The npm supply chain and JS ecosystem had a rough 2025. A self-replicating worm. A phishing attack on chalk and debug. AI assistants writing code that does who knows what with your credentials. I wrote up some notes on what happened and how to actually defend against it:

I turned 40 this year, and perimenopause seems to have hit me like a freight train. I'd like to talk about it this
#IWD
. What’s shocked me is how little I knew about it before. We’re not taught about it so we’re not prepared. SexEd teaches us about when we’re fertile and just leaves it there!

I've been using the tunnels feature a lot already and it is super useful, especially for mobile testing. Like ngrok but with secrets and access to my local or staging dbs.

I know it's a contentious topic, but I've been thinking about AI (specifically Proc-Gen & GenAI) for storytelling in game development. Here's my write up on building a prototype in TypeScript with thousands of universes, characters and dialogue trees, all generated locally.

Spent a long weekend playing D&D with some wonderful friends. Because I have the too-much gene, and because we were in this beautiful house, I made myself a suit of armour. It would have been rude not to pose it up.

Heads up to anyone who is on Bupa health insurance. They don't cover *anything* to do with ADHD apparently. Which seems like a massive oversight or a cruel decision. I went private last year for an ADHD diagnosis because of the 3 year wait on the NHS, was seen and diagnosed in weeks.

Alongside the dice box, I made some glowing inspiration tokens for my regular D&D GMs. They have laser etched guild sigils in acrylic and an LED filament which is powered by a coin battery.
@mattgrayy.es
and I massively over-engineered a 3D printed battery case/built in switch for the back.

I made a gift for my D&D GM because we're coming to a finale of a story. It's a dice box with the sigils of the guilds in the world she's created etched on the sides and a moon on the top because her name is Luna. Felt lined with magnets to keep the lid in place and a lil dice tray inside.
