An Alabama man shot at a medical helicopter trying to land in a pasture at night. The kicker: "Court filings indicate that Ellison believed he was firing at a drone." There's a direct link from the NJ drone delusion to this.

Someone tried to get ChatGPT in advanced voice mode to help them land a jet in a simulator. It demonstrates how dumb the voice mode model is–it's the only model I ever get angry with, yelling "JUST TELL ME WHAT I ASKED FOR" etc. It's so bad. via

I am skeptical that there was any GPS jamming in the Caribbean, but there are interesting differences between the different measures returned by ADS-B. I suspect using a NIC ≤ 7 threshold is too sensitive to be useful for picking up potential jamming.

Do hackers still listen to techno/metal while coding? Because that's what I do when I'm in hardcore hacker mode. Has to be all instrumental though. (Jeff Bridges talking about the grid and saying "and then, one day…I got in." on the Tron: Legacy soundtrack is allowed however.)

AFAIK this was the first time that anyone saw that Russia was interfering with GPS in much of Europe. I looked in vain for news coverage. Now it's just a daily part of our world, and if you fly regularly in Europe there's a good chance Russian EW affected the safety systems of your aircraft.

The story about the President of the European Commission's plane being hit by GPS jamming while landing in Bulgaria is odd: No evidence of GPS issues via ADS-B; The flight did not circle for an hour as claimed; This region very rarely experiences GPS jamming.

The idea of getting textual advice that's complete bullshit premised on a misunderstanding written by something that sounds like a human and you can chat with forever and doesn't get smarter is not new to me. That's called a tech support forum. I grew up on those. Maybe that is my vaccine.

I think we all should have been a lot more worried about the NJ drone mass hysteria; especially the way the military, police, politicians, and journalists all got completely sucked into it, absolutely detached from the reality in front of their eyes. People shot at and lasered obvious planes!
