Funemployment - Day 16: Spent the last 6 hours pulling dandelions, manually dethatching, spreading topsoil, and seeding part of the backyard. Only did half because the pool is going up soon. Anyways, I’m pooped! 😴

Funemployment - Day 15: Today I designed and planted a hanging basket for the front door. Doesn’t look like much now, but in a few weeks this should be bursting with color!

Unemployment really frees up your schedule. Finally got around to cleaning my horror show of an oven lol.

Popped into HUBco Brewing in Mission for an early dinner. My better half and I split the Jalapeño Popper Dip, Spicy Garlic Dill Flatbread, and one of their gourmet hot dogs. Delicious! My beer was pretty good too!

Finally got around to replacing some of the smaller rocks in the border of my pollinator garden with larger ones, and I also leveled the lawn where I eventually plan to add a raised bed.

Took a drive up to Squamish today and stopped in at Outbound Station in Britannia Beach along the Sea to Sky for a burger and some truffle fries. Mmmmm. Yummy! 🤤

Earlier this week, I was laid off as part of a restructuring. While it wasn’t what I expected, it didn’t come as a complete shock either. I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve had, the skills I’ve gained, and the friends I’ve made over the past 10 years.

Bought a BC Lions Flex Pack today. Excited to be able to go to more games this season.

Made some updates to the pollinators garden this past weekend. Tweaked the layout, added a plant, refreshed the mulch, and reinstalled the solar lights. Spring is officially here!

This rhododendron has had a tough time. It’s never bloomed and has severe insect damage. I decided I’m going to rehab it in a planter, in hopes for a bounce back! In its place, I planted an incredibly fragrant Japanese Skimmia ‘Rubella’ I picked up a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed they survive! 🤞🏻

Went to the nursery yesterday looking for a specific plant. They didn’t have it but we found this beautiful shrub. A Japanese Skimmia. Never heard of it but it smells fantastic!

Gordon Ramsey Burger Vancouver. Delicious, but overpriced.

Took advantage of the break in the rain and pruned my hydrangeas. I’m hoping the weather holds out tomorrow so I can feed them.

Spent the majority of my morning outside doing a few chores. Gearing up for garden season.

It’s been about 2 months now. I repotted the two biggest Shishito Pepper seedlings this evening and I’m hanging onto a few spares for now. My cat ate the other plants when they were still little sprouts lol. Looking forward to the day when I can plant these outside.
