Since our very first issue Meanjin and Overland have been comrades, mates, rivals, and drinking buddies. The UMP board’s decision is a shockingly myopic act of cultural vandalism which will grievously harm the Australian literary community.

Meanjin Journal is 85 years old; older than the Sydney Opera House. Closing it down is cultural vandalism of the highest order, roughly equivalent to demolishing the above mentioned opera house. I am disgusted @meanjin.bsky.social

Went to an event at UniMelb today on the “Social Model of Disability: 40 years on” as part of the new Critical Disability Studies Seminar Series and it was so damn good (speakers Tom Shakespeare, Scott Avery, and Lorna Hallahan)

Feeling for students today who didn’t feel safe to venture out of their homes, to trek across the city to come onto campus. I’m not making this up, many of our international students are genuinely scared with Nazis on the loose. If I were VC I would put out a statement at the very least…
