The SNP know exactly how Holyrood’s voting system works. Both votes SNP isn’t about winning independence, it’s about protecting the SNP. Under AMS it wastes list votes, hands seats to unionists and weakens the pro-indy majority. It’s a slogan for party dominance, not a strategy for independence.

Very hard for SNP to do much better than 64 seats. They are effectively winning 87.7% of the Constituency seats. As such, the D'Hondt PR algorithm kicks in on the regional List part of the election, reducing the SNP List votes by a factor of 9 or 10. Much better to vote Scottish Greens for the List

SNP turnout is the key factor. At least in my region (South Scotland) it would only take a 5% SNP to SG swing for SG to get an extra list seat, but a whopping 30% swing to add one more. So it's critical we try to win all the constituency seats.

Quite right about the diminished weight of an SNP vote in the Regional vote and it will probably be best to cast the second vote for the Green Party. But we should first check which Independence-seeking Party has the best chance of winning in the Regional vote.

I think Highlands & Islands and Edinburgh & East Lothian are the only two regions where SNP are polling to only win approx 6/9 Constituency seats. In all the other regions SNP will win all or all but one Constituency seats. I still think it is better to vote for Scottish Greens in ALL regions.

Agree. I left England for Scotland nearly 50 yrs ago and have never regretted it.
