SLIM IS ALIVE! Communication was re-established with the spacecraft as the Sun inched round & hit the solar panels, and science'ing begun with the multi-band spectroscopic camera. I don't think the surface program is long (SLIM is a pinpoint landing tech demo), but it's great to get some images 🧪🛰️.

MOWR MOON MEWS? There's a press briefing at 2pm JST (in ~45 mins) on the JAXA SLIM landing but... it's in Japanese. Seems all the astro stores are fresh out of clear nights, so here's NGC 6888, the Crescent nebula, imaged from the driveway last summer. Celestron EdgeHD 8, ZWO ASI2600MM Pro, Antlia 3nm SHO, and iOptron CEM70G mount.

Time to post one of my favorite old illustrations. :) I created it for a group show resolving around botanical visuals. During this time I read a lot about the ISS and how they grew plants in there to test botanical behavior, which also sparked dreams about deep space travels.
