Ultimately what I want to explore with writing an HDG fic is how the superficial and implied elements of (non-)consent, (non-)humanity, and the breaking down of walls built by trauma can cause it's own cascade of problems. If you keep cutting down to the quick, eventually, it starts to bleed.
