On the last day of the mission to China, the IMCO team spoke with TEMU President Sun Quin and senior management, who presented the company’s operations and compliance systems. 1/2 👇

After visiting the Alibaba showroom in Beijing to learn about the company’s operations in China, IMCO MEPs met with senior Alibaba representatives including AliExpress President Stone Chen and Alibaba Vice-President/Head of International Government Affairs Eric Pelletier. 1/2

MEPs discussed in depth product safety & compliance operations with SHEIN. The delegation expressed their worries with the cofounder Tony Ren, touching on AI copyright issues, sustainability, forced labour, checks on dangerous and illegal products, and overall compliance with EU rules.

MEPs spoke with the EU chamber of commerce representatives to learn about 🇪🇺 companies’ perspective on trade and competition with China. The discussion focussed on trade imbalance, the role of AI in employment & production, evolution of e-commerce & 🇨🇳 market opportunities.

At their official visit to the National People’s Congress, the @imco.europarl.europa.eu delegation shared their concerns with 🇨🇳 parliamentarians about consumer and product safety, forced labour, protection of minors online and EU companies’ access to the Chinese market.
