‘The Odyssey’ was better than my (very tempered) expectations. - Horror elements were *incredible*. I agree with anyone who’s said Nolan needs to do horror next. - It loud. It didn’t sound bad because of it, but it’s loud. - It’s limited, but there is some pretty casual violence toward dogs.

We started going to a local bar a couple years back, especially for “trivia” nights (it was Family Feud style which was perfect because it’s basically vibes trivia). One thing led to another and my partner landed a job there while in school! But tonight was the bar’s final night and just. Damn.

All this hubbub over IMAX filming and aspect ratios when the best format to experience the tale of Odysseus on is your TV while you play Hades 2.

Two personal goals I had for myself when I left my job: eat healthier and go outside more. That was two weeks ago and now I’m somehow caught in between diarrhea vegetables and an Air Quality Index that’s so high it feels like it needs to be rescaled.

In movie goings-on, we saw ‘The Invite’ yesterday. Fantastic film that balances absurd, sex-joke humor with surprise tear-jerker moments and wraps it all together beautifully with incredible staging. Knowing a lot of the dialogue was improv makes it even better.

Supergirl was a solid, enjoyable film. It was refreshing that the bad guy was effectively just a slimy “Mad Max extra” douchebag trafficking women. Main gripe: Jason Momoa’s character would’ve been more fun if he hadn’t also felt like a superfluous undermining of one of the film’s central themes.

I at least want to give credit to what did work: - They absolutely nailed the set design. It made me want an IRL Backrooms “fun house,” made by this team. - If you want 2 hours of backrooms vibes? It nails that. The film doesn’t try to change or invent anything for the sake of being its own thing.
