I was delighted to visit Sai Pharmacy to discuss the critical role community pharmacies play providing better healthcare to people. I am pleased that the Labour Government has agreed a record funding uplift of £3.1 billion for the pharmacy sector.

The last Labour Government cut rough sleeping by two thirds. Since 2010, it increased by 164% under the Tories. This Labour Government is taking action to tackle the root causes of homelessness and rough sleeping by providing almost £1 billion of funding.

On the 20th anniversary of 7/7, we remember the 52 people who lost their lives and all those who were injured and affected. We also pay tribute to the incredible courageousness and selflessness of the emergency services that day. We must unite against all those wishing to sow division and hatred.

It was a pleasure to meet with the Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh on his official visit to the UK. The UK government is committed to deepening the UK-Bangladesh trade and investment partnership, and our shared ambitions for economic growth, job creation and prosperity.

Delighted our Labour Government is investing £39 billion in social and affordable housing. The biggest investment in social and affordable housing in a generation.

Delighted we are repealing the outdated Vagrancy Act 1824. This will ensure rough sleeping is no longer a criminal offence, ending two centuries of injustice towards some of the most vulnerable in our country.

It was great to visit Queen Mary University’s Institute of Dentistry to hear about their world leading research and see their fantastic facilities. Our discussions focused on efforts to tackle dental and wider health inequalities in Tower Hamlets.

Good to meet with members of the East London chapter of Citizens UK. We discussed our shared priorities, including social housing, tackling antisocial behaviour and supporting young people. I am hugely grateful to Citizens UK for their vital work in our community.

An honour to meet the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority. The UK restated its commitment to advancing Palestinian statehood. The Gov announced £101 million funding to the Palestinian Authority and continues to press for a return to the ceasefire & a return of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

On the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe, we remember all those who fought bravely against fascism. We honor their sacrifices for our freedom.

On VE Day, we mark the 80th anniversary of victory in Europe. Thousands from the East End of London served on the front line & the home front. The King & Queen visited Vallance road in 1945 to meet with local families. We honour the sacrifices of those who gave so much for our freedom.

It’s a privilege to represent this extraordinary part of the East End of London, where I grew up. I’ve always worked hard to unite our community, to tackle injustice at home and abroad, and to fight for a better future for us all. I'm incredibly grateful to all those who have supported me.

As we mark five years since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I think about my beloved uncle, aunt and the relatives and friends we lost in those dark days of the pandemic. My thoughts are with all those in my constituency and across our country who lost loved ones.

A pleasure to meet London Met Uni leadership team at the Aldgate campus in my constituency. We discussed their outreach programmes to support pupils into higher education, the variety of subjects and courses available for the students to study, and the University’s exciting plans for the future.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the Bethnal Green Tube Disaster when 173 people tragically lost their lives. The disaster was the UK's largest single loss of civilian life during the Second World War. We remember them and their incredible sacrifice.

Brilliant evening at the Jack Petchey Foundation Speak Out Challenge Tower Hamlets Regional Final. The student speeches were inspiring. I've no doubt they will do our borough proud. I want to thank everyone for their hard work, which helps train over 30,000 students a year in public speaking.

On #InternationalMotherLanguageDay, we remember the brave students who lost their lives on 21st February 1952, in the fight to preserve the Bangla language. Today is about raising awareness of linguistic diversity, preserving cultural heritage and linguistic freedom.

It was good to meet with local leaders at @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social to see first-hand the impact of poor-quality supported housing and also meet organisations doing positive work to improve supported accommodation in the area. 1/2

Antisocial behaviour continues to be a major concern for local residents. Pleased to facilitate a meeting between residents, local schools and the police and Tower Hamlets council to ensure action is taken to support residents. Thank you to Thomas Buxton Primary School for hosting us.

Great to visit @centrepointuk.bsky.social offices and youth helpline in my constituency. I spoke with staff about their experiences supporting and advising young people on housing and homelessness. Very grateful to them for all their work helping young people in need.

I am delighted to announce an extra £14.8 million for our Changing Futures programme this year. Changing Futures has provided vital support to people experiencing multiple disadvantage, halving rough sleeping for people supported by the programme.

A pleasure to meet pupils and teachers at St Elizabeth Catholic Primary School. Very enjoyable school assembly which included School Parliament members. Some excellent questions about housing, policing and education as well as the U.K. parliament, democracy & the role of an MP and Minister.

I was delighted to attend an event at the Bangladesh Centre to celebrate the inspirational stories of British Bangladeshi women. It was an honour to meet with so many amazing women in recognition of their achievements and their contribution locally, nationally and internationally.
