What I love about being a writer is that I'm editing a book because I was strolling around a botanical garden in Warsaw and I suddenly realised the book had one major theme missing. By adding that theme the entire ending of the book is changing too. I bloody love writing.

Editing editing forever editing. Also: I love editing!

What's great about knowing loads of authors is the security of it all; I just came across a writing account with 60k followers that piqued my interest. Even before I looked at its terrible content, I was immediately on high alert as no one I know followed it.

I finished Brightness Falls this morning so right on to The Good Life. I normally don't read authors back to back but I just couldn't not; McInerney has such a way with words and weaves such a wonderful story I just had to keep going with the Calloways. And that's having read them both before!

With Jay McInerney having published See You On The Other Side in April (maybe May? I'm losing time this year), the Calloway tetralogy is complete! Before I read number 4, I'm revisiting 1-3. Number one is Brightness Falls, set in New York is the glorious year of 1987 (the year of my birth).

I both started and finished this book today - it's only 104 pages so a quick read. And a beautiful one. 18 short stories set in Palestine, all about the lives and hopes of Palestinian women. It's a wonderful tome exploring identity, femininity, and individuality. A must read.

Welp, it lived up to the hype. The first half didn't hold me so much - I've read Huckleberry Finn so I'd already read most of that. The second half though? Wow. Wow wow wow. A meditation on identity, freedom, and maintaining a strong sense of self. Love love loved it.
