oh. oh y’all Ori is doing ok, but he is definitely feeling our loss. He tolerates petting for short periods but eventually moves or puts his teeth on me to say stop. Lately he is letting me pet him till literally my arm gets tired and he just tried to wrap his tail around me to keep me there 😭

so i got the gnarliest blister on my heel on Saturday (the boots I was wearing were fine on 8 hours, 4 miles, and a concert but apparently 15 hours and 10 miles was too much for them) and it has gotten so horribly painful I am literally googling when I should be going to urgent care about it

finally got around to writing thank you cards for a few staff members at the vet’s office for Kili and hoooo i have been sobbing for an hour, it’s fine. I also made them a gift bag with grab and go snacks and had a photo of Kili printed for the memorial wall they have in the lobby

gonna start carrying ori around everywhere i go because he sleeps like the dead in the bonding pouch and i’m afraid of him getting lonely. this has been him for the last four hours of my work day

Found Kili unresponsive. At the vet. There’s nothing we can do. Me and Ori are going to cuddle with him one last time and then he’s going over the bridge to see Fili.

i asked for a refill on gabapentin for car trips (he gets SO stressed when i drive to visit my parents and vet agreed drugging him is fine 😅). the tech asked me about Ori’s weight so she could get his dose too and I was like “OH no he’s a perfect angel baby in the car, he doesn’t need anything!”

Kili’s vet appt went okay. First thing Dr. H asked was if he’d had any more seizures, how his grip strength is, etc. and checked his teeth/gums and said they looked much better. He prescribed daily pain/anti-inflammatory meds forever and coconut water or pedialyte every day for dehydration.

Kili is... subdued? But I would no longer consider him lethargic. He definitely still has problems. I still don't have a good explanation for the seizures and I think his body is probably actually shutting down, but I think the meds are making him feel better.

something I’m grateful for in all this: Ori has been a better brother than I could have ever asked for. He’s right there comforting and supporting Kili. I worried they might turn on each other when one or both of them got sick (like Fili did), but they really are a perfect match.

Very unhappy with the vet I saw today tbh. She was new and I don't think had ever seen a sugar glider before and did not seem concerned with the entire reason I brought him in. He's on pain meds and antibiotics and if he doesn't improve in a few days I was told to come back.

update on Kili for everybody who hasn't already reached out to me: he's still here and kicking, but he's still very lethargic and it's been a real struggle to get him to drink anything. I'm going to my regular vet first thing in the morning.

i know i've been saying kili is dying for like a year but i think it might for real be happening, gang. he's lethargic, has barely been up and around to do more than eat this week, and i think he's having seizures.
