Lucky I had to go into the ciry for an appt as our power went off just after I left and it's nor on yet. So, I wouldn't have been able to do much work anyway.

Spent a lot of the day tidying the garden. I now know which plants definitely need protecting during our next heatwave! I have a garden bed full of lemon lime nandinas. Some are shaded by the shed. The ones that aren't got very burnt. But, that's a small problem compared to others.

We're out for dinner tonight for my stepson's 21st. I decided to wear my pink flamingo earrings! Because, why not?

Have several friends in fire affected areas and they are all safe, thankfully. The storms at my place last night were very loud. Rosie is ok with storms but Apollo hates them. He gets very anxious. I've been up since very early comforting him. Everyone's settled now.

Dinner tonight- a sort of greek salad and air fried chicken breasts that has been marinated in EVOO, lemon juice, garlic and oregano. Simple, no fuss and tasty.

Outside again! Just looking around. Dropped to 34⁰C.

Yay! It's dropped below 40⁰ at our place and threatening rain. But I'd be surprised if it does.

I just watched myself presenting a workshop at the international conference I attended last year. It was a last minute thing as my colleague was sick. The topic was familar, but I was not an expert. It was pretty good. But I do need another word other than 'um' or simply learn to pause.

Managed to take the dogs for a short run in the park behind us. They were desperate. Both now sound asleep again.

Spending the first 30 mins deleting over 2000 emails that my colleague copied me on for a bulk holiday email to all customers. She didn't realise I would get every one! For some reason she thought I'd only get one.🤷‍♀️

I have to get up and work! I'm really not in the mood.

Today we went to Alowyn Gardens just outside of Yarra Glen for some quiet time today for my son's anniversary. He liked nature. We were hoping to eat there but they didn't have much on offer so we came bavk through Yarra Glen for lunch at The Grand Hotel, then popped to the cemetary on our way home.

Just left my phone in the fridge!🤦‍♀️

My friend's husband is very weird. He'll come to the door and say 'Lynn, it's Kylie'. Then he'll just stand there and she has to come and open the door. There's clear glass panels so I can see him and he can see me!

Bought a new car on Wednesday. Picked it up today and sold my other one. Busy day! It's a hybrid. I was prepared to go full EV but it was a lot more money and the size car wasn't quite right!

Hubby came back! And sold it! Car's gone. No RWC as a dodgy car yatd in Trugannina bought it! It was a very good car and nothing wrong with it.

Hubby's heading off for a test drive! I'm waiting behind. I hope he comes back!

Had a simple dinner tonight. Used up my homemade pesto and simply stirred it through pasta with a smidge of the pasta water.

This morning we booked flights to have 7 nights on Sunshine Coast in midJuly. We'll stay 4 ngts by the beach & 3 ngts in the hinterlands. Still to book accommodation. We also have 4ngts in Sydney in early May. Just putting our short break plan into action. Need something for Oct now.

We attended the NYE Gala concert last night at the Melbourne Recital Centre. It was with the Australian Pops Orchestra. Performers were Lucy Durack, Marina Prior & Simon Gleeson. It was a great night. My best performance award goes to Simon Gleeson singing Bring him home from Les Mis. Brilliant!

Rosie stayed at my parents last night. They went out for 1.5 hrs and put her in her crate. When they came home she was out of the crate add had chewed the tissue box. Took a while for mum to work out how she had escaped. She'd managed to work open the zip on the side panel of the crate.Cheeky!

We just got on the train to leave the city! Had to walk to Southern Cross as they weren't allowing people to get on a train at Flinders St. Only off! Until after midnight. That wasn't advertised!

We saw Anaconda today. A bit slow in the 1st half then it picked up & got funnier. We had quite a few laughs, which was what we wanted. Nothing fantastic, but we enjoyed it. Typical Jack Black movie. 3.5 stars from us!

Deciced at the last minute to do a frittata for dinner. It's got potato, ham, tomato, onion, spring onion, rosrmary and dill.

Our pea and ham soup. Served with some bread. Doesn't look great, but tastes good.

And then the house we stayed at in Ballarat when we saw Cold Chisel was just on 'Find my country home' on ch 9.!

We're watching 'Emily in Paris' and they are in Rome for season. One of the scenes is in a little trattoria. It's actually a real osteria in Venice that we ate at! The meal that night was delicious.

I've survived the 2nd Christmas without my son. It's now only 8 days until his anniversary my project to keep busy and distracted is to paint these drawers. I've already bought new drawer handles.

This was a great cheesecake for a large group. Saved it for yesterday and took to my aunt's house. Mine didn't look as pretty! But it tasted great. P.s we had some for breakfast this morning!
