Kudos to WIRED for putting out the first live taping to podcast episode that rivaled in spirit and in execution, too, what you've come to expect from episodes of their show. Usually, these live episodes are a disaster in comparison, an in-person event not transferring to earbuds. WIRED got it right.

"We have to have a little bit of humility, us practitioners," said a Climate Week panelist on the subject of storytelling and sustainability.

At this Climate Week event, I'm seated beside a CEO. I asked how the current administration impacts his business. He said not at all, as he's based in Canada. I told him that he had foresight most others in the room did not.

"People would rather sit down and stay quiet than raise their hands," a reporter on this Climate Week panel said about the current mood. She acknowledged that it's slowing a bit, and people are increasingly more open to be cited than, say, back in January...

Over the past year, a reporter on this panel said, bigger companies have been just as willing to speak about their climate efforts, it's just been refocused on energy and policy education. No longer looking to sneak in smaller stories that were pitched in the past.

Universities in particular have been reluctant to use certain words, this panelist said.

At a Climate Week event, reporters say that people are less willing to speak on record, especially on camera, this year. They are finding unique ways around it, but it's been an imposition amid the current administration.

"Sometimes, you’ll reach out to someone with no agenda (as far as possible on LinkedIn) and they’ll offer you a high paying project, and when that happens, you take the win. Usually, I find that opportunities come to fruition months or sometimes years after you make initial contact with someone."
