With a colder head, my main issue is that I need an editor who is bilingual. The diction notes are on sentences that, upon re-reading them, are in spanish but translated to English. While the "good" sentences are the ones I put down directly in English and don't come from my first draft in spanish

I just got one of the weirdest feedback on the setting of my novel " The aztecs wouldn't have advanced technology or be able to do X " it kinda feels weirdly colonialistic. They are aztec inspired not historical since I have magical gravity rocks to power the technology

to my TTRPG and writer friends, which one works better for publishing gaming content, Patreon or Substack?

To my ttrpg friends. I need a mailing list service that does the next: Users can subscribe for updates on the general mailing list but can also choose to be part of Mailing list for X or Y project only. So that they can be segmented and if they don't like 5e they only get indie and viceversa

I find it interesting that in other places people associate brutalism with boredom, dryness, and oppression. Meanwhile, I like it because my high school and university were built in a brutalist style. Picture fo the Faculty of Science Tlahuizcalpan building where i used to play RPGs and Magic.

Part of my job is writing Art Briefs for the art in the books. I usually include several pictures as a reference for key points of the art. I hate that AI has contaminated nearly every source of reference images, making them useless for briefs when you are using keywords for the Moodboard

I second this, I already passed along some other mexican friends but the intermix between history of Science and horror can be an interesting point to write especially from regions where science was used to justify colonization

Me finding this after cutting off a 2 chapters from my mesoamerican fantasy novel since they clashed with the high fantasy style. Now I can repurpose the chapter as its own horror story which better fits the tone. Never fully delete any chapter it can always be repurposed.

To my writer friends, If you could do a retelling of anything, what would it be? I always wanted to do a retelling of classic mesoamerican myths in a manner more appealing to modern audiences, and not just direct translations that sometimes miss the mark

I think worldbuilding can be important in the narrative if you consider its implications and how it fits the story you want to tell. My favorite example is what happens in a world with giant spiders/scorpions/arachnids 1/

My priorities as a small game dev publishing,the legal documents are the following: 1. If you can afford to make an LLC, it will save you a ton of hassle. You are protected, and it makes getting a USA account a lot easier, especially if you are from the global South 1/

The not-so-fun part of making games as a small publisher is dealing with all the legal minutia, contracts, etc., but I highly recommend getting help and advice and don't procrastinate them. Extra importance for all of those in the global south working with companies in the global north

Whenever I come to science outreach events I remember all the overlaps between good/engaging science communication and good/engaging narrative in games. Because sweet ancient gods some of these people put a full crowd to sleep.

Making a social media strategy considering two different languages is a task I wasn't expecting to handle today. Video content in Spanish, blog content in English for the webpage, hopefully, video in English in a few months but in the meantime my excel looks like a battleground in spanglish

Some thoughts regarding fantasy races as i continue writing my fantasy novel. I don't think fantasy "races" are necessary unless you make them as alien as possible. Having Not!Humans as a race in your setting 8/10 ends up as a clutch for not presenting other cultures 1/ 🧵
