Drove past the local private school massive pickup congaline today, and it seemed at least half the mumbuses and occasional sedan were bloody teslas. Oh and some beemers. They're all very plain, they need some exterior decorating.

Cyclone Alfred is slowing its western trajectory and currently is predicted to make landfall during daytime Friday, or maybe even Saturday! The BoM is synthesising a bunch of complex prediction models & the cyclone is behaving quite weirdly (in cooler waters), making it more unpredictable.

Facebook blocked Linux discussion for a while recently, citing them as "malware" despite the fact Meta & most of the internet runs on Linux! I could guess the authoritarian motive - open source operating systems can't be bought or controlled. But MFing

Now it's getting cooler, I'm contemplating the Queer Mullet again. I overheat thru my head to a ridiculous degree (some weird autism side effect?? I know "running hot" is not uncommon) & I've kept hair as minimal as possible over summer. Fuck yeah, Queer Mullet. My hair is naturally bushy & wild.

That sticky feeling when bread is getting a bit past it, oh well. No visible mould = okay, right. Anyway, Swedish furniture store's jam is delicious, a little bit sour, I particularly recommend the tundra berry jam Sylt Lingon.

Getting a HUGE deluge of US politics in Discover, & it's a bit much. Not sure how much is just what Bluesky is (???) or bc I've trained the algo to serve me more bc I "liked" a bunch of the stuff. Anyway, if I'm gonna stick around, I need to train that trigger finger to "like" almost anything else.

🌱 I can't be trusted with indoor plants generally so I don't buy them (or I stick them into the garden), but I couldn't resist making a pet of this massive peacock plant - Calathea illustris, it's above my bed during the day and it brings me happiness, look at it.

Victoria (Australia) is a one-party consent state (unlike some states). This means it's legal to record or film a conversation you're involved in. You don't have to let the other party/parties know, or get their consent. You just can't "communicate or publish" it without their consent.

Just because someone bursts into tears at what you said, that doesn't automatically make you the aggressor & them the victim. But gee, people really wanna believe white feminine cis women's tears when you're not a white masculine cis man. I'm scared, I can't be specific here, I just need to vent.

Found a really old globe in hard rubbish today. I was in a hurry rummaging through for landscaping supplies etc and did not pay attention to how old this thing must be. Stalingrad?!! (I don't like old tat but kind of regretting not grabbing it now.)

My ex and I have barely anything in common these days but occasionally she does something I approve of. Grade 6 kids all got issued these SCHOOL LEADER badges to wear. So my ex looked up where they were made & ordered this for kiddo to wear instead. He wants to see how long before anyone notices!!

Breaking out the chocolate, the oxytocin withdrawal is wild. My kids are super stressful for me to look after with disability, but when they're gone with their other parent - yikes. Also, I get -every- mental to-do pop-up notification at once that were all kept at bay while the kids were here. ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

Older kiddo was proudly showing younger sibling all the creative ways he could blow up, crash and crush stuff in his game (Teardown). I said "maybe you should go work for the Australian Defence Force then" and he said "fuck you, you can't respawn in the Australian Defence Force". ahahaha

I burst into demented laughter tonight when my (also Australian...) father told me RFK (complete cooker and new US health secretary) was pro-vaccination. He sputtered and said archly "we must have very different information sources..." Yeah no shit dad. We do.

Welllll..... high time to check if I've had two MMR vaccines in adulthood or not, I'd rather have good immunity against measles if possible! It's now locally transmitting in Melbourne & it's REALLY INFECTIOUS. Nothing on my Medicare online record, not sure if *no* central record left.

A good antidote to climate anxiety might be to enter your location (London, for instance) on this great map of ancient earth and see what it was like 20, 200 or 750 million years ago, for a bit of perspective!

🌱I just realised the rapidly growing garden outside my window has a METRE LONG LEAF now!! The biggest leaf is behind the others! It's cunjevoi. The whole subtropical garden (shitty rental lawn 9mo ago) has just POPPED since summer, & it's not even supposed to be subtropical in Melbourne, it is now!

These inhaler steroids are making me sound more and more like an annoying croaky lil teenage boy. (Yeah I do rinse mouth etc, still get the croak) I've decided to be absolutely fine with that. I've hardly ever been clocked as anything other than female no matter how masc I present (am pre-t).

Last year taught me that life is far too short to be arguing with people who are determined not to listen, so I am adopting a no-exceptions immediate block policy if you sound like any of these squares because quite frankly if you’re going to snap out of it you’ll do it yourself.

This is a pretty new sign to see, deer are a relatively recent pest in the Dandenongs. Barely even out of the suburbs here. I used to just spot wallabies but I bet the deer are competing with them. How many people are out looking for antlers? (I REALLY want to find some...)

Hey all, did you know that disability payments are restricted by how much your partner earns? This means you won't have any independent income, which makes it very difficult to escape a problematic relationship. Please sign this govt petition to change it.
