In an unexpected turn of events, this helped me reproduce a bug that can only be reproduced in a Linux arm64 container (not in bare-metal Linux arm64, or any other containers on other platforms 😅)

TIL git-restore-mtime, which is very handy when mounting a local clone to a clone in a docker container while still reusing the build cache from the docker image 😇 (otherwise all the files from the local clone would be too fresh and invalidate the build cache in the container)

Built-in HTTP proxies are now on v22 😇 (Going to update the version mentions in a WIP guide on using Node.js in enterprise network environments)

Stalled this PR for almost a year due to CI build cache issues, last week I realized (once again?) the Linux binary size is a bit out of hands and gave the CI another try, and the CI miraculously handled it , so finally landed this and shed of 8MB off the binaries at least github.com/nodejs/node/...

Landed support for proxies in Node.js http/https builtins github.com/nodejs/node/... To enable proxies configured from *_PROXY env vars: use NODE_USE_ENV_PROXY=1. This was already implemented for fetch and released in 24 github.com/nodejs/node/... - soon the old builtins will also support it.

Ecma International Excitement 🎉 Last week, two TC39 members, Rob Palmer (@robpalmer.bsky.social) and Michael Saboff, received the Ecma Recognition Award for their contributions to Ecma, including TC39.

Wrote a couple of edge case tests and expected them to fail with my implementation with some useful traces for me to debug and make it work. And to my surprise.....they didn't fail at all. Debug logs showed that it was working as expected. 😮

As I walked by this public building, I noticed other than being a celebration, this decor signals explicitly to outsiders (e.g. tourists) that the marginalized groups are welcomed here. It might be obvious for the community here, but less certain for an outsider especially in a changing climate.

Bumped into the pride march and saw an interesting flag

Three amazing things I encountered this week: 1. I thought I had to find a high speed WiFi to clone a huge repo. Turned out my hotel WiFi allowed me to do so at 18MB/s 2. Took the wrong bus but it took me to the right stop after a detour 3. I saw the most beautiful beach I have ever seen

Very quickly found a good use case for this - using redirect.github.com links in commit messages to prevent huge pile of cross references from various forks from cluttering the referenced PR after the referencing commit lands in the upstream github.com/nodejs/node/...
