Dame Esther Rantzen is one of my heroes. She unleashed a child protection revolution on Britain in the 1980s, bringing the taboo of child abuse to public consciousness. She gave voice to the victims and shape to how society should protect them. I am honored to get her praise for Trauma Proof.

While we’re banning books… Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar. Be. Like. Finland.

Like poverty, emotional neglect & abuse drive education inequality. Schools & communities that make every child know they matter are safer, fairer & more prosperous.

The tragic death of #SaraSharif is heartbreaking. Can’t help but think it could have been prevented if child protection systems were much better resourced & respected & if the UK joined other countries in outlawing #corporalpunishment & #homeschooling

Urgent work must now begin to ensure this peace in Lebanon is sustained. Children deserve stability, hope, and a chance to rebuild their futures. UNICEF will continue to stand with them every step of the way.
