‘Hanya Yanagihara’ has just blocked me for pointing out that her page is a fake author account. Thing is, they’ve got 1.5k followers now and lots of fans interacting and thinking it’s real. This really annoys me! I’ve reported if anyone else wants to too.

How I’m dealing with the fake author DMs.

Just got a bold DM: ‘Listen, pretty, you said you would publish your book next year. Maybe you don't know the meaning of a book trailer.’ And I don’t know whether to be annoyed or impressed by how much condescension they’ve crammed into 2 sentences. Anyone else inundated with ‘author services’?

Great advice here from Catherine! Querying and being on submission can feel more like a waiting game than a journey. But there are many things you can do while you wait!

I think Sainsbury’s haven’t thought about all the children being dragged round supermarkets who can read, but still believe in Father Christmas. In other shops gifts like this are called ‘mini gifts’ or ‘Xmas gifts’. I think ‘stocking fillers’ is a bit of a spoiler 😢
