It was great to join local farmers and agriculture leaders at the Orange County Agriculture Summit! Farmers are the backbone of NC—our state needs Congress to ensure proper federal funding and the passage of a strong Farm Bill that supports farmers and protects consumers.

Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate🧧 The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. King’s Freedom Movement. May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.

The Pentagon just failed its 8th consecutive audit and still got approved for a $1 TRILLION budget without blinking so I'm gonna need every corrupt hypocritical politician complaining about made up food stamp fraud and forcing drug tests and work requirements on poor people to shut up forever. Thx.

It is amazing the number of ways humans find to separate ourselves and then act in ways that harm groups that are other than the ones we identify with. D@ve Ch@pel has a new standup special and I’d heard that it was worth watching. It was not.

Fear will try to convince us to isolate, to hoard resources, to avoid community, to build the least threatening campaigns making little impact. A grounded risk assessment will move us closer to each other, it’ll remind us of that we are millions, it’ll make our work more bold and more brave.

One of the defining features of authoritarian society is the ruthless but selective use of the machinery of repression—and associated propaganda about criminality and “order”—to immunize predatory behavior of the powerful while crushing everyone else into profitable obedience.

Kavanaugh doubles down on (& misapplies) the most shameful standing decision in the Court’s modern history, Los Angeles vs. Lyons (1983). In Lyons a Black man who was victim of a chokehold by LAPD sought to enjoin its use. SCOTUS said no standing b/c….how do you know it will happen to you again?

Dolly Parton has sent my daughter a new book every month for years as she does for thousands of children. She help fund the development of the Covid vaccine. She’s not a billionaire. I think as non wealthy people it’s hard to even imagine how much billionaires *could* be doing with their money.

The deficit was $1.8 trillion, or 6% of GDP, last fiscal year. Moody’s estimates it will reach nearly 9% of GDP by 2035, pushing publicly held federal debt from under 100% of GDP now to more than 130%. That compares to the previous record of 106% in 1946.Â
