Laundry Workers Local 24 in the early 1900s became a militant striking union: 1910 STRIKE: 10% raise . 1913 STRIKE: Struck to end bosses forcing workers to remain on site without pay. 1917 STRIKE: Struck for wage increases and an 8-hour day. When it ended they won union recognition and better wages.

In the early days of our union, mandatory weekly meetings with “initiations, music, wine, cigars, speeches, & boxing matches between slaughterhouse and retail shop workers." We're proud to carry on this tradition with our member days — but instead we have theme parks and baseball games. 🎢⚾
