I’ve loved the Scream franchise since the 1st film, just finished 7 and honestly for me it felt flat. It was a by the numbers slasher, none of the characters had enough screentime to make me care. It had some good set pieces but they all felt rushed, no tension built. Let’s hope part 8 improves

Next up in my King chronological read through is The Tommyknockers, vague memories of seeing the film version many, many years ago

A workmate lent me this book, finished it within an hour. Not my cup of tea at all, graphic abuse and SA content. Claims to be inspired by the 70’s/80’s rape revenge films like last house on the left but seemed like it was purely written for shock value. Each to their own I guess but I’m not a fan

An absolute beast of a book that had me from page one, after every peak in the story I didn’t think it could get any better but by god did Joe Hill nail every beat. Grief, anger, loss, despair, a cocky prick of a dragon and a core group of characters that you’ll love, hate and miss when you finish

Seeing all these instagram book pages bragging about getting advanced copies, after interacting with a few of them over the past year it’s become very clear that they haven’t read most of the books they “review”
