"Hello" from W21 here at Media City, in Salford. I'm on #news duties reading the bulletins for the 39 local BBC #radio stations across England and the Channel Islands until just after midnight. I'm keeping an eye on the #floods and other stories making the news tonight.

That's my #news reading at BBC 5-Live done for 2024. Looking back, I've covered some big stories over the last 12 months, and these last three days haven't eased up, ending with breaking the news about the death of #JimmyCarter. Time for a break before returning in 2025.

Graduated with my postgraduate certificate in Academic Practice. It's helped shape my teaching, introducing me to different pedagogies; scholarship research; and much more. I've also met some great colleagues from across the @universityofleeds.bsky.social who share my love of creative practice.

It was great to be part of the evening celebrating great work by students at the #bjtcawards. Best TV #journalism and best #TV newsday for students from the @UniversityLeeds at the @BJTC_UK awards hosted at Sky News. More recognition of the excellent work being done at the uni.

We presented the VR Crime Scene Experience we introduced to @leedsunimedia.bsky.social at the Helix XR symposium. This #teaching resource allows #students to experience reporting from a crime scene in the safe environment of the #classroom.

This is great news 👏🏻 We have such talented students studying #journalism at the University of Leeds, who work so hard to create some excellent content. So, it's always good when the work is recognised by other organisations.

Congratulations to the University of Leeds students Olivia Davies and Emma Jackson, who were part of the broadcast. It's great to see theirs and other students' hard work, being rewarded in this way.

This is such sad news. Howard was so lovely to work with during my time at talRADIO. A talented broadcaster, a real #radio man, and genuinely lovely person.
