Populism is intellectually lazy because it eliminates the need to sort better from worse elites. Easier to indict them all. Worst of all, it *validates* the evacuation of trust from *all* elites. But guess what? Some have done great work building a world of peace & prosperity against long odds.

I've more come around to the view that anyone endorsing ANY version of the populist cosmology—whereby the fundamental truth of politics is that there's always a corrupt elite arrayed in ways both open & secret against the true & virtuous people—thereby shows a basic intellectual laziness
