we are depriving generations of kids of the formative experience of stumbling upon some weird horny sci-fi or fantasy book that was absolutely not written for them, which is the kind of thing that makes reading feel exhilarating, like you are unlocking the grownup world’s fun secrets

haven't posted in a bit so: I'm alive! I'm drawing and having fun with it!! just been away from socials while I've been Experiencing (apartment hunting, new responsibilities at work, minor health stuff, dog's health stuff, general stress re: current events, etc.)

Creativity is like a houseplant, not an endless well. You need to seek out sunlight, water, and nutrients in art, shows, music, experiences, and more to tend to it. And just like plants it has its dormant and active periods and you may not seem improvement for some time.

One of my day job coworkers is a tattoo artist who knows I draw, and he gave me some old fantasy and tattoo art books from his collection 😭💕

We can also take it out of the atmosphere. Don't give up. We don't need defeatism. We need eucatastrophy. You have to keep struggling to achieve it. Despair is the final villain.
