I wrote to key French decision-makers about the planned National Primate Centre. A €31m public investment hosting up to 1,800 non-human primates risks increasing their use in research-at a time when EU law, Eurobarometer results & the Commission’s roadmap point towards phasing out animal testing. 🐒

Today, with MEPs from across political groups, I sent a letter to the Commission supporting the Roadmap to phase out animal testing for chemical safety and insisting on the publication in early 2026. 🐇 Let’s advance non-animal methods to whilst fostering EU’s scientific excellence!

One Health is not optional 🌍 It must be a political imperative. Whether it’s PFAS in water, AMR from factory farms, or climate-fueled outbreaks — we need joined-up governance, not siloed fixes. We have to stop firefighting symptoms and start governing systems.

Animal Transport: Step 2 ✅ After attempts by far-right, EPP & Renew to delay the whole process-time had come to submit amendments. Our green demands include shorter transport times, sea transport time limit, strict rules for unweaned animals, phase-out of live export & improved temperature limits.

Breaking: Parliament & Council just agreed on a driving disqualification directive. The idea came already in 1964, but now finally serious driving offences committed abroad can lead to a disqualification to drive in the whole EU. A historical achievement and a step forward for road safety.

On HPV Awareness Day, with SANT Chair Adam Jarubas, ex Commissioner Stella Kyriakides, @europeancancer.bsky.social and others, we strategized on how to prevent HPV and cancer. We still see big differences between countries in vaccination rates. Way ⏩ is through ↗️ education and informed choices.

A 🚚 designed for animal transport right in front of Parliament - something only the #Livestock intergroup can make happen. Would I want to spend 21+ hours in this truck? Clearly not. That's why I will keep pushing for shorter transport times, adequate space allowances & strict temperature limits.
