A couple hundred miles rolled in the Isuzu last weekend for the Japanese Car Day lawn event at Larz Anderson Auto Museum. It’s probably my favorite event of the year.

Camped out at a lemons rally checkpoint until I drank all my coffee and cheered on the few teams I saw come through.

My Toyota RV’s engine ate an exhaust valve. Decided to remove and rebuild both heads.

A week into reshimming the valve lash on the Toyota motorhome. It’s going well but this job sucks. I get why normies defer this maintenance. It’s gotta be a $2000 job if you can even find someone to do it.

We are LIVE! Our first episode since June brings us into 2025 at last. We drove 5 obscure 1990s Japanese cars 1,500 miles round-trip, over 5 days, to hang out with other owners who are now really good friends. This year, we brought 5 cars from the Northeast (NH, Mass, upstate NY, Long Island + PA).

Nighttime roadster rides just hit different. Maybe it’s the ever-looming not-zero chance I’ll lose the headlights for random British reasons or maybe it’s more likely to be the sounds and smells of a rural New England night. New brakes successfully installed on the ToyoMo today. I’d never done captive rotor style brakes before. Was kinda nervous about messing up wheel bearings but I think it went well.

Some pics from last weekend. Great 80’s/90’s turnout for the Rad Stallions show on Saturday and then a solid 80 miles logged in the MGB on Sunday afternoon.

I added some really nice screwdrivers to my tool box and introduced them to their drawer mates this evening.

The Kobayashi Maru successfully completed its first holiday weekend trip. Roughly 200 miles or so at about 14mpg without any major concerns. Definitely have more work to do though.

I got the Toyota motorhome roadworthy today. It makes the usual old engine smells but overall drives and runs really nice.

Got to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for ‘Fast Friday’ with a garage and pit pass, watching the teams push their cars as hard as possible before qualifying for the 500. It’s clear I need to come back to watch the actual race someday.

In chatting with Hagerty editors, we realized they'd never done a piece specifically on Morris Minor Travellers. Once I dug into family photos, especially after rescuing a '55 Traveller that sat in a West LA garage for 55 yrs (see @temptingfatetours.bsky.social) this article seemed like a natural.

Great adventure today. Covered 150 miles and there was no other car I would rather take.

I awoke from a dream last night steaming mad at my wife because I dreamt she bought me a 2025 Jeep Wagoneer without any discussion. I kept screaming “you need to undo this and get them to take this shit back, no one in this family is going to drive Stellantis” It was awful.
