Pacing is definitely the biggest issue in BomB so far — they seem to have a bit of Outlander S2 Syndrome where political scheming gets too much screen time at the expense of time w/the leads. It’s not a plot issue (to me), it’s how much time goes into which scenes that proves shaky. #BloodOfMyBlood

Gotta hand it to DG, she knows how to write dialogue. The conversations were better, crisper, more realistic in this episode than any other so far. Harriet is a freaking legend. This was such a strong episode for her and for Ellen, what a phenomenal performance by her. #BloodOfMyBlood

The more I think on it, I kind of see a theme emerging re: the women of the series either enforcing men’s cruelty or resisting it by secretly helping one another — the midwife who took a bribe to lie to Henry, Davina on both sides of this, Jocasta covering for her sister, etc. #BloodOfMyBlood

Huge FINALLY on Julia and Henry finding one another and him learning he has a son, even if it was cut painfully short — I think that was like the only time we’ve ever seen H genuinely smile in this time, my poor tortured dude. Looks like he gets to see baby next ep too? 👀 #BloodOfMyBlood

The way that Julia immediately concocted a solution to save Ellen was such a Claire move, big fan of that. There have been plenty (too many) reminders of how women suffered at the hands of men in this time, but it was nice to see the women being allies and helping one another here! #BloodOfMyBlood

Poor Connor is struggling massively with the transition from preschool to elementary - largely the lack of exercise makes his ADHD symptoms just skyrocket (he went from 3 hrs of physical play a day to 20 min 😖). Switching to a new PCP to try to get the poor kid on meds. He needs them so so badly.

Narratively I enjoyed this episode much better — pacing was decent (too long at that Jacobite gathering but whatever), the mirroring storylines of the women using their brains to get ahead of the men who have power over them, interesting and unexpected twists. 👍🏻 #BloodOfMyBlood #OutlanderAtMidnight
