A big Danish coffee chain lets people order on their phones and pickup in-store. As a social truther, I find the people who sit in shop, order on their phones, then grab their sit-down coffee without engaging with the person who has made their drink pretty detestable. At least thank your barista!

A feeling that I think explains a lot of online discourse: most people just don't care about liberal values as much as you do. In fact, they probably don't even think about them very much.

This piece in the Atlantic today is an example of what I've been worried about for awhile now: liberalism's complacency in the face of competitive ideologies. Modern politics has been so subsumed by liberalism that we forgot that it too was an ideology that needs renewal, defending, and debate.
