I wonder if we’re starting to see what finally pushes Notre Dame into a conference. Navy rested its QB vs them last week. Pitt is talking like it could treat the game similarly. If no one takes ND’s late-season games seriously, it could influence how its resume is viewed.

For the next 20 years Urban Meyer is gonna be that former coach you can always go to for completely unhinged opinions on whatever major story there is around college football.

The scenario Rece Davis just suggested of Miami being the ACC's lone CFP representative despite not winning the conference is definitely possible. I laid out some scenarios for Duke to go 7-5 and win the ACC here:

This is the 3rd straight year Texas makes an appearance in the CFP Top 10 under Steve Sarkisian. They had 0 appearances in the top 10 under Tom Herman and Charlie Strong.

Cincinnati appears in the CFP rankings for the first time under Scott Satterfield. Their last appearance was in 2022 under Luke Fickell.

Miami is the highest ranked ACC team with will be in this week's projected bracket... despite only a very small chance of actually winning the conference. They need a bunch of teams to lose and some of them twice.

South Florida is in the CFP rankings for the first time in program history at No. 24

Ole Miss' offense is running 74.0 plays per game, 8th most. I don't think this is unrelated to Lane Kiffin's history of taking bad losses in November, and is something to keep in mind as they end the season with Florida and then the Egg Bowl.

Here is the incredibly realistic scenario where Duke goes 7-5 and makes it to the ACC title game. The only notable upset required is Virginia Tech beating Virginia.

Actually, I need to amend this statement... Duke almost full controls its ACC titles hopes, despite being 5-4. But if Duke wins the ACC and James Madison wins out, there is a very high probability the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, Sun Belt and American champs will make the playoff with the ACC left out.

Duke is now 5-4 and almost controls its own playoff fate (it owns tiebreakers in a lot of ACC scenarios). Remaining games: vs UVA at UNC vs Wake Forest All very winnable games. Might even be favored in each of them.

Oregon may have won the Big Ten in its first year in the conference, but it didn't become an official league member until today, when the Ducks beat Iowa at Iowa's own game, 18-16 in the rain.

As much as I love upsets, I’m rooting so hard for Oregon right now. We do not need to see Iowa ruin a playoff game for us with a sloppy 24-3 loss in the first round.

Gary Danielson is rooting so hard for Iowa he won’t even admit the receiver had both feet clearly out of bounds.

This Penn State/Indiana game is surprising only bc it had looked like Penn State quit on the season. But they've got more than enough talent to hang with Indiana and clearly Terry Smith convinced them this was their chance to salvage some respect from an otherwise embarrassing season.
