America has decided to be the country of regime stormtroopers, mass shootings, venture capital, reality TV, AI data centers, mercury poisoning, prediction markets, MLM scams, unchecked disease, enshittification, online trolls, disinformation mills, and government purges. This is just what we are.

We need to take the prospect of breaking up the country much more seriously. These fundamentalists aren’t going to stop, they’re just going to keep coming and will continue to rule us for decades to come. We need to admit that this is not going to end well unless we break away to save ourselves.

There should be tens of millions of Americans in the streets until the regime is forced out of power. The fact that there is not even a whisper of this is the ultimate sign of why this country is doomed to the darkest form of fascism.

The way you know America is finished is that anyone who tries to explain how it isn’t actually doomed has to describe such a complicated hyper-conditional Rube Goldberg-esque process of machinations and unlikely events coinciding absolutely perfectly that you know it will absolutely never happen.

The very act of being an American has been so thoroughly enshittified and debased that no longer has any worth. There is no point in clinging to this failed experiment, this lousy broken-down dysfunctional product we call a country any longer.

We’re supposed to at least get bread and circuses, but there is no bread to be had and the circuses suck ass.

Donald Trump and his supporters firmly believe that if he is in charge, he holds limitless and unquestionable authority to do his will, and by putting him back in power, Americans reaffirmed that belief. He acts like a dictator and a king because that is the message the people sent by electing him.

Because Americans elected this regime, this country is going to spend the next 50 years just trying to get things back to how they were in 2009 (and they weren’t amazing then either). Some things will never come back. Decades lost.

America is a Nazi sheriff, an anti-vaxx tradwife content creator, and a crypto-trading televangelist stacked on top of each other wearing a massive trench coat with AR-15s in every pocket.

In 2024, America damaged itself beyond repair. Institutions destroyed, international trust shattered irreparably, irreversible environmental destruction, the destruction to the government itself, science and research, academia, public health… all gone for good.

America is a really raw deal for blue states that are constantly forced to subsidize the evils done by red states, even as the reds refuse to support their citizens at even a basic level.

The inordinate amount of time I spend in my daily life trying to prove to a computer that I am not a computer is maddening. The Internet was a huge mistake.

For those who think this country is still salvageable, they’re already doing ethnic cleansing, pogroms, concentration camps, Jim Crow, open theft from taxpayers, and have dismantled the government, universities, and scientific institutions. What else do you need to admit this place is cooked?

Breaking up the US may seem radical now, but as apartheid worsens and material conditions continue to decline, it’s going to become mainstream that it’s the only way to survive, just wait.

Disbanding the country may seem radical at first, but we are in a time when wildly radical things (the end of the Voting Rights Act, banning abortion, concentration camps) happen every single day. Radical solutions are necessary, the old ways of muddling through are no longer enough to save people.

Cities and blue states get a raw deal out of remaining part of the US. They pay hundreds of billions to subsidize red areas which then use their disproportionate political power to hold blue areas hostage with regressive, racist, cruel policies. It doesn’t have to be like this.

The Confederacy will never allow itself to be Reconstructed. We need to be rid of it once and for all. Disband the country, break it up. Let the majority of us who want civil rights to move forward, rescue the vulnerable people trapped there, and permanently separate from the Confederacy forever.

Don’t fucking vote. It is a waste of time and utterly pointless.

This is the only alternative to an inevitable civil war or total apartheid and conquest by the Confederacy.

They close off all peaceful methods of political change by rigging elections and then wonder why people are increasingly warm to political violence.

We can nibble around the edges, try to do damage control to beat back the MAGA white supremacist Confederacy as it pops up, but there is only one real solution to the problem that is a dysfunctional country: National divorce. Let us be free of the Confederacy once and for all.

We are living through nothing less than the total destruction of civil rights, democracy, and the rule of law in real time. If you’re not full of rage, you’re not paying attention. If you’re waiting for some sign that drastic action might someday be needed, we’re there. This is that time.

We are paying the price in 2026 for not completely burning the Confederacy to the ground the first time and ending its evils for good.

Everyone talks about adding a couple states to try to rectify America’s imbalances, but it would be far better to simply cut off the Confederacy like a cancer, help the good and vulnerable people there escape to build better lives, and let it go its own way to fully collapse.

We need to rid ourselves of the Confederacy one and for all.

I just read Rod Dreher’s depressed cry for help after Orban’s loss and it is the single greatest example of cope I have ever seen in my life.

You simply cannot maintain a country when 40 percent of the citizens—roughly 100 million people—are in mindless thrall to an authoritarian madman. It can’t be done. The one and only avenue is to break up the country itself.

In 2024 a plurality of Americans proved themselves to be venal, monstrous, and deeply fundamentally evil. It’s long past time we started pointing that out and talking about what to do to be finished with them and insulate ourselves from their sadistic evil as best we can.

Acting as if Republicans—not just the politicians, but rank and file voters for MAGA—are worthy of consideration is itself beyond the pale. They have sacrificed their very humanity and should be treated as the enemies and threats that they are.

I will go to my grave never understanding the desperate drive to make excuses for American voters—grown-ass adults—to avoid holding them responsible for the choices and decisions they consciously make in the voting booth.

Madness that war crimes are being excitedly announced like the season premiere of Seinfeld.

It really sucks knowing that even if we all survive this regime, Americans are just going to end up electing Joe Rogan or Jake Paul as president.

He’s absolutely spinning out that no one will come rescue him from a problem he created. He’s going to start slapping tariffs on countries he “invites” to the Gulf who say no, insulting their leaders, and will probably end up using this as an excuse to leave NATO before it’s all said and done.

The way to know America will never have a female president is that even now, in the midst of all of *this*, if you suggest that Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris would have been better, there is a mass battalion of bros ready to immediately descend and tell you that they still would have been worse.

They’re absolutely 100% going to try to do Soviet-style price controls, aren’t they?
