Last night was the 7th time I have watched Fire Walk With Me on the big screen. It is my favorite film by Lynch because of how he captures what a true evil is through Leland/BOB but also true kindness with the angels that were there for Laura in the end

While never outright stated in season 2, the fact that Roger Hardy's newspaper has the neutral headline "Leland Palmer laid to rest" is as close as we'll get with how much (or how little) the town overall truly knew about Leland and what he did to Teresa, Maddy and Laura.
