This is sanctionable. One of these things is not true, and for a mistake of this magnitude it doesn't matter all that much which is and which isn't. It's the fact that the lawyers were not in a position to be able to tell the court the right information the first time and seem not to have an excuse.

This is simply not something you see a federal judge say about a high-ranking federal official.

Most of the hard-right judges on the federal appellate bench want to be on the Supreme Court and (correctly) understand that the way to get there under Trump is to act like an outrageous politician, not like a good judge.
