Update on the Bambu Labs AMS 2 Pro failure. Support ticket has resulted in them sending me a new buffer, waiting for that to arrive. I suspect it won't fix anything, since even plumbing the AMS 2 directly to the printer doesn't work. Also - failure still occurs even with Bambu spools.

This install is wild to me, it looks like such a kludge. Of course there's certain to be some super valid reason for it. I need to go hit the books.

Legit. If your wall socket is self-aggrandizing or otherwise full of itself, find another one that's more down to earth.

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING, DO NOT RUN YOUR GENERATOR INSIDE. DO NOT WARM UP IN YOUR CAR IN A CLOSED GARAGE UNLESS IT'S ELECTRIC. EXHAUST FUMES + ENCLOSED SPACES = NOT EVEN ONCE!!! THIS IS ANOTHER WAY PEOPLE DIE.

Adding to the advice chain: If temps are freezing outside, congrats: the outdoors is now a large fridge. Keep the fridge closed to keep it cool insideβif the outage is only an hour or two, your stuff's usually still cold enough, but err on the side of caution if you think perishables got too warm.

i think it's good that facebook is collapsing BUT the infuriating thing is I now have to be across so many different services to talk to friends i have people messaging me on Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, Bluesky, Discord, and even a few people who SMS like the old days (which is pretty cool)

I have a very stupid update. When the AMS fails mid-print, hitting resume on the printer will always see it fail to reload filament to the extruder. Unless I power the printer off, turn it back on, and then resume the print. That works just fine.

The Bambu Labs P2S has served me very well thus far, but the AMS 2 Pro is a hulking piece of shit. Don't bother.

Was going to work up a livery in Forza Motorsport 4 (X360), but the Audi TT is only available as DLC. I've had to bust out the original Forza Motorsport (Xbox) instead.

first test: functional! 10 degree grade which was chosen to be neatly within the train's climbing capabilities. layer lines aren't a problem, probably just makes the track grippier. had to ditch the automatic material system to get this to print, no idea what is wrong with mine but it's annoying

I did two hours of design today, and I've spent the following 8 hours trying and failing to fix the AMS on my 3D printer. This Bambu rig is starting to feel mighty Creality right now. I got a P2S because I didn't want to fuck around! Very frustrating.

I ran 2km for the first time in a long time, just after New Year's Eve. It was a great way to start the year. This really shows the Charmera's limitations, though. My pale legs are massively overexposed even just with regular interior lighting. I swear to god, I'm not that white.

Selected photographs from my Kodak Charmera... I feel like the blind box concept would have been cooler if each colorway also had slightly different lenses? Tiny sensor + terrible lens = this thing loves light. Here's a sampling of fun life shots from the last month, starting with a PC case...
