I am talking at #BOU2024 about biological rhythms and clocks of urban and forest birds. I show that city birds may be less sensitive to ALAN than forest birds. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/abs/10.1... But our new common garden results suggest this is not related to genetic clock differences.

Inside JEB feature on our work: In hooded seals, the circadian clock tells them when to wake up & when to sleep. Ciccone &co show that the clock also tells their mitochondria when to be more efficient at making energy, allowing for deeper dives during the day. journals.biologists.com/jeb/article/...

First post intro: I work on seasonal rhythms. Working and living above the arctic circle I have a strong appreciation of seasonality! Currently I have an ERC consolidator award to research hibernation in the golden hamster. I also work with hooded seals, reindeer and ptarmigan!
