How do I have so much yarn and none of it is suitable for the hat I decided I wanted to make Right Now instead of working on any of the projects that I actually have yarn for.

Have been waffling about making this post, but there are a few people here I want to know. My mother died last Sunday, the 1st. Her health has been bad for 2 years, we were waiting for it, but it was sudden, over quick.

Why have I not made any progress on this knitting project I set down an hour ago to scroll the internet.

Once again my gauge swatch has failed me, and I am making a huge adult sized cardigan, not the 2-3 year old sized one I was aiming to make. Into the frog pond.

Starting the exciting process of filing for next year's paid leave/intermittent leave wherein I juggle paperwork for the state, my employer, and my doctor's office. At least I am trying to apply for two years' worth of leave, this time, so I don't have to do this again next year.

Very important life skill: if you are saying "I don't need to buy a donut because I don't currently want to eat a donut" you need to ask yourself "Will I want a donut later?" (Also, stick a donut in the microwave for about 8 seconds and it gets soft and fresh and yummy.)

Am really wound up by the day's events and the sheer number of people shopping today (am cashier), so in retaliation I bought rum cakes from Tortuga. But they sent me a coupon for 15% off so it's fine.

Got a big box of yarn from a friend who can no longer knit, and I stashed most in closet but set some aside to make a new-to-me vest pattern. Discovered the needles I need are in a hooded scarf in progress. So first I gotta finish that. ..or I can buy more needles, right?

Right now it's 27ºF outside and on Saturday the high is supposed to be 57ºF. What.

An ongoing project: going through my old binders of printed out knitting patterns and adding them to my Rav library. Going well except for how I also keep adding them to my "oh I want to knit this now" queue.

People at my store today were super assholery and annoying and sucked so much, so this evening I have "rage purchased" a few knitting patterns. (I only had to ask "would you like to talk to the manager?" once, though, and the manager told her exactly what I told her. Oddly enough.)

Not my best- I was focused on pairing colors for each block, but I should have focused on busy prints versus reads-as-solids. Well, the toddler it's for won't care.

Pulling my zipper up, my finger slipped and I sliced my thumb open with my own fingernail. What in the absolute fuck is this nonsense.

Love knitting from colorwork charts. Can I count to three? No. Can I count to two? Also no. Can I count to one? Sometimes. Can I count to one, four times in a row? Not even. Do I need a nap? Absolutely.

We walked outside in the (very cold) sun for 40 minutes! Granted, about ten of those minutes were walking around inside the quilt store, because I needed some solid pink for sashing. But! Walking!

I am awake so early to go to the dentist to get a tooth repaired (probably lost filling, maybe chipped tooth). I am so sleepy. It is 28ºF outside. Do Not Want. As always, I couldn't sleep well all night until two hours before my alarm was due. WTF brain. (Usually I never use an alarm.)

A foot appears!

So glad I force myself, before I email a pattern designer to point out an error, to go back and make sure I can completely and accurately describe the error because that is how I figure out where I screwed up reading the directions. Turns out K1P1 is not the same as K2P2. Who knew!

I made a queue on Rav of all the patterns I owned and hadn't made anything yet, and popped two up to the top knowing they were what I wanted to make next. Reader, I have not made them and instead I have made two other things from my queue. But at least I am making things from queue?

Have been trying to recall an old B&W movie I thought starred Margret O'Brien but it isn't listed in her credits. Three men are raising a little girl (they don't live together.) One is a cop, one maybe a priest? But when I try to search I get the 3 men and a baby movie & this is from the 30s or 20s.

Ordered quilt fabric online; got a call to let me know the 1 yard I ordered isn't continuous, it's 30" and a 17" piece. Is that all right. So my whole schtick as a quilter is that I cut fabric apart in order to sew it back together. In what reality do I need continuous yardage. (Not a panel.)
