The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development Recommends the Adoption of the Climate-Aligned Finance Act | Senator Rosa Galvez Ottawa, January 30, 2026 – The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development recommended the adoption of the Climate-Aligned Finance Act. On Tuesday, the Committee released its report on the impacts of Canada’s financial system related to the environment and climate change. In this report, the committee made five recommendations. Chief among those was that “Canada's financial system be reformed to align with climate commitments, as set out in Bill S-243, the Climate-Aligned Finance Act (44th Parliament, 1st Session), which would itself provide a robust, science-based regulatory framework for conducting transition plans and annual progress reports and address greenwashing concerns around climate action.” https://rosagalvez.ca/en/media/press-releases/press-releases/the-standing-committee-on-environment-and-sustainable-development-recommends-the-adoption-of-the-climate-aligned-finance-act/
